If you’re after a bag that looks beautifully put together without even trying, this Green Faux Leather & Tweed Crossbody Bag with Thistle Zip is an absolute stunner. I made it using the Sunshine Satchel pattern by Woodland Stitches, which is known for being practical, clever and just a little bit show-offy in the best possible way.
 
The exterior is a gorgeous mix of soft green faux leather and a wool-blend tweed that has all the cosy, earthy charm you’d expect. It’s finished with brass hardware and one of my exclusive thistle zipper pulls — and honestly, that thistle moment on the front pocket deserves its own round of applause.
 
What makes this bag special
The standout front pocket sits right in the centre, making it easy to reach no matter which shoulder you wear it on. It’s the perfect spot to show off that fancy zip and pull I had been secretly been saving for a special project.
Flip it over and you’ve got a handy slip pocket on the back — great for chucking in your phone, tissues or your car park ticket when you’re in a rush.
Inside, there’s a top-zip closure to keep everything safe, and a zipped pocket for your essentials. I lined the bag with a cotton print inspired by William Morris, which gives it that classic Arts & Crafts charm every time you peek inside. The crossbody strap measures 50" so is a great length to wear across the body and makes the bag sit just at or below the hip.

Every bag, purse or wallet I make comes with its own handmade dust bag, so you can keep it protected and looking its best when it’s not in everyday use.
 
Please note this item isn’t machine washable. If it gets marked, just wipe it gently with a damp cloth, pat it dry with a microfibre cloth and let it air dry away from direct heat. Keep it out of direct sunlight, and try not to overload it — too much weight can put stress on the seams and hardware over time.
